In 2013, the International Atomic Energy Agency continued its wide range of technical and scientific activities, with the goal of making a sustained contribution to the needs of Member States. This report provides a review of developments in 2013 related to nuclear issues as seen from the perspective of the Agency and in the light of the Agency’s own programme. The Agency’s diverse programmatic work focused, in a balanced manner, on nuclear technology and its applications, nuclear safety and security, nuclear verification, and technical cooperation. The Agency continued its efforts to increase the synergy between the scientific and technical parts of its program and its technical cooperation activities. This review is not intended to be comprehensive, but instead follows a number of selected themes: the current situation regarding nuclear power; the application of nuclear related techniques in food and agriculture, human health, water resources management and environmental monitoring; the Agency’s efforts to strengthen global nuclear safety culture and enhance nuclear… read more →

Summer is here and with it has brought long sunny days and soaring temperatures. The heat outside is going to be a factor but when you are inside, you can always turn on your cooling systems but there is one little, or should we say, big problem with this. As you turn the thermostat of your AC colder, your energy bills shoot up. The question is, can you bear this extra expense? We do not know about that but what we do know is that you can bring them significantly down and still enjoy the cool produced by your unit. You will also be helping the environment by lowering your energy footprint. Let’s take a look at how you can lower your energy output. Regulate the temperature of your thermostat Which temperature do you usually operate your unit on? Did you know this actually affects your bills, and the impact is quite significant? For every 3 degree increase in your… read more →
After hard work of process engineering, IVACE ( Competitive Valencia Business Institute) has recognized it. CTR gets the appreciation of his job with a grant by the Save and Efficiency Energetic Business Program. (Project that has been financed by FEDER funds within the Comunidad Valenciana Operative Program 2007-2013). The approach of the new plastic production line becomes a high efficiency power and reduces electric potency significantly in the plastic recycling process. The main goal for CTR Mediterraneo is to contribute to the improvement of the environment. For that reason, since the company was created, it integrates all services that allow to have an overall management for almost all types of wastes. CTR devotes part of its activity to recycle plastic, that comes from polluted package. They become row materials for the companies that generate the waste. Briefly Recycling process has the following steps: – Classification by color, toughness and type – Grind, with tension power, compression and cut – Washing… read more →
