Germaine de Capuccini designed, researched and created the first cosmetic biodegradable and compostable packaging. This Project started in 2011, the leadership was managed by Germaine de Capuccini, it lasted almost three years of research. They got a two years cicle of life and the also got being compostable in less than 6 months, they overtook two of the most difficult topics. Design, research and creation of the Biotube Cosmetic was a team work in a consortium, where each actor has a defined role. Shulman, the multinational company, drew up the raw material of renewable components. Petropast, company dedicated to produce cosmetic and pharmacist packaging, was in charge of becoming raw material into packaging. Germaine de Capuccini made tests of compatibility during all process and ratify the final packaging. AINA-AIMPLAS Alliance supported the Project technology. The research was supported by CDTI (Industrial Technological Development Centre) and FERDER (European Region Development Fond) with a million of euros. Biotube Cosmetis is an advance… read more →
It is an interesting discovery. Amazon is an amazing place with rich natural resources. Recently scientists discovered a fungi that can erode and consume polyurethane. Polyutherane is one of the most polluting synthetic product worldwide, once it is produced, the material can´t be biodegradable. This plastic is common used in everyday life, from garden hose to bus seats. The main advantage of this material, is obviously cheap, although it is nasty environmental. Pestalotiopsis microspora discovery was wonderful. They found a fungi that ate plastics, it was an accidental discovery, by an expedition to Amazon of scientists from Yale University. All we do, there is a trace on the planet, in the same way other ages made, the present one let a track on the floor of the Earth. Our life in this world will be influenced by new elements that come up because of our activity. Different kind of rocks and fossil fuel were made up with time and let us see which were the life conditions in that age. The International Environmental Day, Canadian scientifics announced a new discovery. They found a new type of rock that is based on melting waste plastic from rubbish we launch to the seas and ocean, of course they are mixed with natural rests of the deep nature. Scientists called this material plastiglomerate, generally it is formed in the beaches that are rich in deposits, pieces of lava, and organic materia rests that are in the seashore. When this mixture arrives to the coast line, then it joins to the plastic that… read more →
77% of the container volume of domestic waste are packagings, as we can see in the report of the Waste Prevention and Responsible Consume Foundation. Recycling Union of Catalunya, estimates that hardly half million of beverage packaging tones go to garbage dump or to incinerator, they are materials that can be recycle with a 100 million euro per year of value. Eurostat, European Estadistics Agency, tells that a 15% of the municipal waste comes from recycling in Spain in 2012, we are in the last position of the state members in recycling matters. Return Association asked for Ecoembes and Ecovidrio, (representatives of packer and great distribution and management of the current container system), to implement a Beverage Packaging Return System. This proposal will allow to recover in origin and recycle to make new packaging in more than 90% of the cases. We should revive the costume of return the bottle to the shop we bought. It will get from 51… read more →
The most hazardous plastics and certain plastic bags should be banned by 2020, as part of an EU strategy to reduce plastic waste in the environment, says the European Parliament in a resolution voted on Tuesday. The EU should also introduce binding plastic waste recycling targets, MEPs add. The resolution, a call for action further to a European Commission green paper, was passed by a show of hands. In it, MEPs stress that plastic waste is damaging the environment due both to weak enforcement of EU legislation on waste and to the lack of specific EU laws on plastic wastes, despite their particularities. «Parliament has shown the way to deal with the huge problem of the detrimental impact of plastic waste on the environment and human health. We said today that we want to change bad habits and account for our products, from production through to final disposal. By putting these products to good use and recycling them as much… read more →

Following the strategy of reducing waste, the European Parliament determines to forbid dangerous plastics and one-use plastic bags. They got the resolution voting by a show hands. The members of the European Parliament pressure to engage with the obligatory nature to obey the rules about plastic recycling. Now, there are few regulations, and people don´t follow them, so plastic waste is damaging environmental. Dangerous plastics should be retired. One-use plastic bags, should be reduce drastically and far away we should give up using them. Also, exportation and illegal discharge should be stopped. Members urge to check up the current directive relating to packaging and package waste. The report sets up that European Union should include specific and compulsory objectives that allow them to classify 80% of the waste. The criteria should clear up the difference between mechanic from organic recycling, and between recovery and incineration. Criteria should also be the same in all European Union in collection, classification and management… read more →
